Cambodia
’s Railway Rehabilitation Project

Dated back to the 30’s and since the late 60’s people could enjoy traveling by train, day and night, from one end to another of the country. In dilapidated condition since, the Kingdom of Cambodia is now starting its rail rehabilitation project, on its existing rail system, partially funded by international governmental funders and aiming to integrate Cambodia in The Trans-Asian Railway Network. SDV was chosen as logistics partner by a specialist in the construction of railway track for Cambodia’s railway rehabilitation project. Beginning November 2009, our experts were responsible for the transportation of railway equipment from Thailand to Kampot railway station in South Cambodia by road through the Aranyapratet (Thailand) / Poipet (Cambodia) border.

Our working scope included the completion of export and import customs clearance, the coordination, loading/unloading and door-to-door road transportation of two locomotives, one excavator, ten ballast wagons and five container offices of 20’SOC.
End of November, a second operation was completed to deliver one locomotive and one Tamping Machine.  Our working scope included the completion of import customs clearance, the coordination, loading/unloading and port-to-door road transportation from Sihanoukville port to Kampot railway station.
