The port of Sihanoukville, also known as Kompong Som and situated 232 km
South West from Phnom Penh, is the only deep-sea port of the country and
consists in two berths of 290 meters and 350 meters long. Main liners operators
don't come to Cambodia. Most cargoes are fed to/from Singapore. The Phnom Penh
International Airport, located 12 km from the centre of Phnom Penh offers
regular flights to/from Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan, Taiwan,
and Laos. Transportations on the Mekong River are also possible and principally
used during rainy season between July and December. Transit time from Vung Tau
estuary in Vietnam to Phnom Penh port is 3 to 4 days. Trucking from Thailand, is
only possible for cargo originated from Thailand and bound to Cambodia. From the
border to Phnom Penh the distance is 422 km.
SDV Cambodia has two offices (Phnom Penh
and Sihanoukville), a warehouse in Phnom Penh main industrial area and operates
its own container yard located near the road leading to the Port of
Sihanoukville.
